Little Wrens Enjoy Heart‑warming First Visit to The Manor in Barnard Castle

The Little Wrens from St Mary’s Barnard Castle have “had the best day” during their weekly local adventure, marking a special milestone as they visited our friends at The Manor for the very first time. The children were welcomed with open arms as they spent the morning sharing cuddles, conversations, and craft activities linked to this week’s theme of Valentine’s Day. The visit was designed to help nurture intergenerational relationships—something the school continues to celebrate and encourage.

​​​​​​​Our Climate Change Champions at St Mary’s Barnard Castle are inspiring the whole school to take action with a deliciously creative initiative – a Climate Change Baking Competition, taking place Monday 26th to Friday 30th January. The pupils proudly shared their idea with the entire school, inviting everyone to take part – including teachers! This exciting competition encourages our school community to think about important environmental issues while having fun and getting creative in the kitchen.

Owl Class Shine in English Heritage Pin Badge Competition

This October at St. Mary’s Catholic Primary School in Barnard Castle, our Year 5 and 6 pupils - known as Owl Class - took part in an exciting creative challenge set by English Heritage. Pupils were invited to design a brand‑new pin badge for Barnard Castle, inspired by their understanding of the historic site and its significance within our local area.
