Young musicians at St Mary's Catholic Primary School, Barnard Castle, are making excellent progress in their weekly violin lessons.
The school offers violin tuition to children from Year 2 upwards, giving pupils the opportunity to develop their musical skills, build confidence and learn a new instrument.
For some children, this is only their second violin lesson, while others are now in their second year of learning to play. Despite being at different stages of their musical journey, all pupils are showing great enthusiasm and determination.
Miss Brookes has been particularly impressed by how quickly the children are learning and mastering new notes. During their most recent lesson, pupils successfully played a recognisable version of Three Blind Mice, demonstrating the progress they have already made.
Casper, a Year 4 pupil, said: "It is really fun. It is a challenge when we learn new notes and complete a new song."
With interest in music continuing to grow across the school, Miss Brookes is also planning a presentation and demonstration for pupils who may be interested in taking up the violin this year.
