Fire Pit Thursday!
EYFS and KS1 enjoyed their weekly session around the firepit again this week.
The children enjoyed listening to stories about Rosa Parks, linking to our ongoing work during October as part of Black History Month.
This week, the Swifts have been building on their knowledge of how fossils are formed. We experimented with the terms cementation and compaction and created fossils using a sedimentary rock formation. We created layers and used increased force to create a cast fossil! We worked in oracy groups to build on our knowledge of Mary Anning. We were impressed with how much resilience and time she took to research fossils. We realised her contribution to palaeontology allowed us to learn and understand more about life on Earth millions of years ago.
Our Wrens and Robins explored Barnard Castle this week as part of their topic ' Kingdoms and Castle' They used their role play skills to imagine being a knight in battle, or Rapunzel looking down from the tower window!
