At St Mary’s Catholic Primary School in Barnard Castle, our young violinists enjoyed a wonderfully creative music session this week—one that brought laughter, learning, and a whole lot of balance!
To help pupils develop strong posture and stability while playing, our music teacher introduced a brilliantly fun activity the children quickly named the “Statue of Liberty Game.”
Perfect Posture… With a Twist!
During the activity, each child carefully balanced a plastic cup on their head while practising their violin technique. The challenge encouraged:
- Improved posture
- Better bow control
- Greater focus and discipline
- Increased body awareness while playing
Of course, a few cups toppled to the floor along the way—but that only added to the excitement and giggles! Despite the fun and chaos, our pupils showed remarkable concentration and produced some truly impressive music.
Amazing Musical Progress in a Short Time
We are incredibly proud of how quickly the boys and girls have developed their violin skills. Their confidence, teamwork, and enthusiasm shine through in every lesson. It’s wonderful to see our children embracing music education with such joy, curiosity, and determination.
Well done, everyone—you are making fantastic progress, and we can’t wait to hear more beautiful music in the weeks ahead!
