This week, the children have been exploring different pitches and tones in music. We explored pattern and trace music while keeping a steady beat!. It was wonderful to explore how music makes us feel and how much is has evolved since the 1950's! We also discussed how pop music originated from America and has evolved and changed across the world. Of course, the children wanted to explore Korean Pop culture and we trace mapped K Pop - Hunters! We explored the styles of forte and piano listening to pop music being played with classical instruments. The children loved the expression and felt happy and calm. We then began to listen and infer the pitch and melody to British Pop Music - Adele - Make you feel my love. We used a 2 note melody to compose and play along to the music!

Well done and exceptional progression Swifts!

Larks Class:
This week we have been reading the story ‘The Queen’s Handbag’ The children created some fabulous freeze frames showing parts of the story, including the swan taking the Queen’s handbag! What a creative way to retell our favourite parts of the story Larks- well done and super listening too!

This week in EYFS  our focus art was based around our local area - Barnard Castle. The children created beautiful pieces of art using coloured pencils and oil pastels, focussing on the buildings in our area.

Fabulous Fractions in Owls Class!

The Owls have certainly challenged their mathematical understanding of fractions today! They have worked collaboratively to match dominoes by solving multiplications and divisions involving fractions. They have used informal jottings to not only solve the problems but to also convert improper fractions into mixed numbers and then simplify them fully. The 'buzz' when I walked in to Owls class this morning was just fabulous- every child engaged, motivated to learn and ready for a challenge!

Well done Owls!
