What a wonderful piece of artwork we received from Jemima this week, as part of her homework. Homework she decided to complete even though she wasn't feeling 100%! Wow- Jemima I think your work is just beautiful, you are very talented and I can't wait for Mr Hall to put up your picture

'Baptism of the Lord' on the wall in school for everybody to see and admire! Well done.

The Climate Change Champions are overwhelmed by the many entries for their baking competition this week and have selected 4 overall winners. Well done and thank you to everybody who entered. Congratulations to our winners:

Radhesh, Edie, Charlotte T and Sylvia.

Our Climate Champs will count the money raised and we will then send of to their chosen charity  World Wildlife Fund | (WWF) Endangered Species Conservation

Thankyou for supporting our inspiring little leaders!

In EYFS we had a special  celebration for MrsT and Mrs Lew who both celebrate their birthday this week! It linked beautifully to our RE topic this half term too 'Special Celebrations!'

What a treat!

This week, the Swifts have been learning about conductors and insulators. We activated our knowledge by drawing a simple circuit and discussing open and closed switches. We practiced creating a simple switch out of paper clips and tin foil and could now believe how simple it was to stop an electrical flow by simply opening the circuit! We progressed to looking at other materials that could allow an electrical flow, we learnt these were electrical conductors. We discuss how these materials were metals and metal allows electrical atoms to flow freely through the material.

We developed a scientific enquiry, "Do all materials allow electrical atoms to flow through them?" We learnt that materials such as rubber, rubber and plastic were called insulators. This meant that the electrical flow could not move freely through the circuit. We classified our materials and learnt that when the light bulb switched on, the materials were conductors, when the light bulb did not turn on, this meant the material was an insulator. We were very impressed with how creative our circuits became. Super Scientists Swifts!

This week in science we were learning about the sense of taste and smell. We tasted foods from the 5 basic tastes - sweet, sour, savoury, salty and bitter and decided which taste they were. Some fabulous reactions to these foods Larks!
