Larks  have had a lovely week this week with so many different activities. We have been reading The Queen's Handbag so  we decided to open a post office. The children have laughed at sending Miss Alderson lots of bills! They have been writing letters as part of their Literacy and in the post office.

To celebrate Lent we have chosen to give back to our local community, so the children wanted to paint rocks to place around Barnard Castle that  have messages and images that are important to them. They are hoping to encourage people to ' open their eyes' and be alert this Lent.

What an amazing Forest School sessions Wren's and Robin's have had this week. The children listened to the story of the Gruffalo's child, went on a mouse hunt, made clay mice with super long tails and leafy whiskers as well as explore the stream and forest site, ending with warm juice and toasting a marshmallow.

"I ate marshmallows. I loved the mice that we found hiding. I was in the river. When I put my wellies in the river they looked golden." Albie

"Going in the river. I got water and made puddles. I jumped in them." Florence

"Going to Forest School. I love it! Frog pond, river, fire, mud kitchen." Luna

"We ate marshmallows. Toast them on the fire. I made a mouse out of clay. I went in the river." Remi

The Swifts had a wonderful week raising money, awareness and giving up their time to take part in The BIG Lent walk for CAFOD. We went on a walk and linked it to our weekly prayer where we gathered and prayed within the theme of almsgiving. After prayer we shared other ways we could give to help others.

Many kind children across school gave up their playtime and took part in a Lunchtime Lent Walk to raise more steps to meet our target with The Big Lent Walk. It was lovely to see Robin Bear out on another adventure as we walked through Barnard Castle. Thank you boys and girls for giving up some of your time to complete the walk!

The Swifts have enjoyed a wonderful visit from Max's Grandad who has helped them develop their throwing and batting skills! The children shared that the lesson made them feel, "happy, prepared and confident," for future games and competitions. They are so excited to see what skills they will learn and master next week!

My sparkly star of the week is going to Ben Hinchcliffe for beautiful handwriting and confidence in lessons. What a super star he has been!

The Owls visited church to take a closer look at the Stations of the Cross before returning to school to create their own.
