What a fabulous first week back we have had!
Our school family continues to grow... welcome to our new starters in nursery and reception, as well as across school.
This week, the Robins and Wrens have been learning all about our emotions and colours! In Science, we explored how rain makes us feel emotionally and physically. We even began using our science words, wet, dry, damp and waterproof! We began to wonder where rain comes from and why it is so wet! We felt sad at the idea of the Colour Monster walking to school today without an umbrella so we decided to test different materials to decide which material would be the best to keep the Colour Monster dry. As you can see, we had far too much fun pretending to be rain clouds testing all of the materials! Who'd of thought a towel that dries us is not waterproof! Charlie explained to us that sometimes when it rains we can see rainbows in the sky but our rain didn't make any so as rain clouds, we got busy making our rainbows through colour mixing! We even used our colours to explore our emotions and made some super links to the Colour Monster. Outstanding observation and enthusiasm Robins and Wrens!
Wow, what a first week we have had in Larks. We just love our new classroom learning environment and have enjoyed exploring it. Sylvie particularly likes our reading area and has enjoyed reading our new Taylor Swift biography. “You know I’m a Swiftie because I like Taylor Swift.”
In Larks class this week...
On Thursday we had a vegetable catastrophe in the classroom! An evil terror stole vegetables from the kitchen and trapped them in the classroom, there was even a carrot taped to the door! We compiled a suspect list and used our digital literacy skills to make case notes on who we think the culprit could be. After receiving a message from Mrs Box asking us to help her find the culprit, we created Wanted Posters in our Literacy lesson. If you see an evil green terror please inform the Larks!
