Coronation Activities across school

What a royal week Robins and Wrens have had. Our provision has been enhanced with lots of Coronation activities to link with this weekend’s coronation of King Charles III. The children created a wonderful Buckingham Palace collage in focus art, used different sized scoops to explore the red, white and blue rice, created portraits of King Charles and made both crowns and quiches using the play dough.  In child initiated learning the children have shown an interest in building houses and drawing architects floor plans of their creations. In RE we continued to spread the Good News that Jesus is alive and made holy spirit streamers to help spread the Good News.

Although this week has been a short one we have filled it with lots of exciting activities. We have been celebrating the Kings Coronation in some way each day this week. Tuesday we did a Coronation crossword and the children were very good at finding the missing letters, we also read about King Charles’ life in our Vipers this week. We dressed up and wore hats linked to the King’s Hat story. We also used what we have been learning about volume and capacity in maths in our outdoor classroom this week. What a great week we have had celebrating the coronation, learning about Pentecost, telling the time and learning about North America.

We took a lovely walk into Flatts woods on Thursday, providing us with a fabulous opportunity to classify plants in our local area.
